When our original founder Jim and Linda Sutherland decided to start a new venture in 2002 Jim had worked in the auto service Ministry for 30 plus years and even had a very successful auto repair shop of his own but was faced with the Dilemma that many people in that field eventually come to failing physical availability.
When you decide to work with Tulsa Sign Company you will not regret it. You will see that auto mechanics is a very tough, very physical labor intensive job and he had a choice to continue on the field he had known since high school or find something new. he has Linda also has something else in mind, a legacy for their son and me. Looking back we are extremely grateful for the foresight they had but at the time it wasn’t so short. without the concept it was cool that we even came up with the name Highwayman signs. Originally dad had a small 24 vinyl cutter, a computer and a table we mounted in an old blue and yellow step van. He would go to the events and cut these deals, make small yard signs in or banners on the highway hence the name. Like many people our age we didn’t have a plan for the future. We knew we didn’t want to run a business and had a great job at a local grocery store making 22,000 a year so I had pretty much a ride.

In 2006 our dreams of becoming a rockstar faded. as many bands do we break up this Hit me hard that I would like to admit you see we were a Christian Bandit and really had a found purpose and find time I believe Jesus is a savior of mankind and we were spreading the fact that the one way we knew how through music was also done working at a grocery store we were asking out where do I go from here. The sign shop was growing and working there almost as much as a full-time job. He can pay me what I was making at the grocery store so I decided to take a leap and go to work at HighwayMan full time.
We also decided to go back to school because apparently we can’t do one thing at a time. We attended RSU and Bartlesville for three semesters where I had a 4.0 GPA but now the company has grown significantly to invest in some new equipment. We are still making everything on that old 24 cutter but had my sights on something that would change the course of the company. We wanted to do vehicle wrap. I remember the racing game we had been practicing practically our whole life. it’s crazy to look back and see God’s handling through the entire way.

We love what we do here at Tulsa Sign Company. It’s been a long time coming but we can’t wait to share our amazing services with you today. It was easy and we quickly learned we needed training. We enrolled in a rapid installation class at one of the suppliers in 2009 and wrapped the truck a few weeks later. It was at the point where our business skyrocketed. We immediately moved our small downtown shop to Dewey Oklahoma and moved it to a much larger shop on Highway 75. Highwayman was back on the highway. It was around the time my parents asked if this was the path I wanted to take.
We are here for an amazing time at Tulsa Sign Company. We can’t wait to connect with you tonight. The next few years we had explosive growth. and in 2014 we opened our second location in skiatook. I’m just letting me begin adding our current staff and honoring our crop to become the best sign company in the region. In 2016 we moved into our current location between Bartlesville and dewey. we come a long way from that blue and yellow truck with a 24-in cutter to today. with the two locations in printing capabilities up to 798 why my dad gym now retired still has an office at the shop and still occasionally goes to him for advice. We still continue to grow and find new ways to service our location and industry.
It’s going to be an amazing time at Tulsa Sign Company. though some things have changed our commitment to family legacy and our customers is stronger than ever. thankful to our amazing customers we made the greatest decision of our life. We know exactly what we are doing and we can’t wait to get started with you today.
