Speaker 1 (07:32): Thanks For Joining the highway man signs podcast, your top Tulsa sign company in the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Skiatook, and surrounding areas.Um, and most channel letters nowadays are lit with LEDs. Um, the old school back in the old days, they would, they would mostly be neon. Um, but they’ve gotten away from that. Um, just because of, for one the, just the cost, um, the weight, um, just because the neon, the transformers, they weighed so much more, um, the neon glass could still get broken. Um, no, it was less, um, less apt to be broken because it’s in a protected case, but it still could happen. Um, LEDs obviously last longer, um, and a brighter. So that’s a huge improvement over the old neon. Now, getting back to remote man. Um, the problem with remote Mount is mainly the installation. Um, the install can take three to four times longer just because you have to install every individual letter. Um, and it also makes it hard if you have a building that is, you know, has a rock facade or a brick, or, um, maybe like a corrugated metal building. Speaker 1 (08:56): Um, you have to have, you know, you don’t want your, you don’t want your letters to not lay flat. Um, so again, a Raceway kind of helps that keeps all your letters flat, all nice and a nice in a row, uh, level. Um, and in the, in the instance, do you have a brick building or a, um, a rock building or something like that. And you’re trying to Mount these on there. Remember we have to drill a hole completely through to the other side, to Mount your electrical boxes, uh, in your electrical components on the inside of the building. So remember you have to drill a hole for every letter. So if you have 15 letters in the name of your company, your 15 letters that were hanging, that means 15 penetration into your building facade, uh, to get behind there on the other side and Mount your electrical components. Thanks For Joining the highway man signs podcast, your top Tulsa sign company in the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Skiatook, and surrounding areas.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Now, like I said, they look, they look really good remote mounted, but I always suggest to look at what your building is made of what the facade looks like, um, and also kind of see what your neighbors are doing as well. Um, cause you want to kind of keep in mind with that. A lot of, uh, shopping malls, strip malls, things like that, actually mandate that you have to use channel letters. And sometimes they do mandate whether or not they’re a remote mounted or, um, Raceway mounted, and most places that if they’re mandating them to be remote mounted, they usually have, um, an easier time installing them. Cause they’ve made a crawl space for that. Um, every place that I’ve ever been into that has actually had a mandate where they had to be remote mountain channel letters. Um, there was a crawl space and the facade was stucco that had like a plywood back. So they were really simple to install.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
That’s pretty much it on channel letters. Um, you’ll get, if you’re just joining us, uh, you’ve just joined the highway man podcast, uh, highway man signs, your top Tulsa sign company in the Tulsa Bartlesville sky tick and surrounding areas. And here in Oklahoma, and we’re just talking about the different types of signage that we offer and also just kind of help, um, give you a better understanding of what’s out there, what’s available. What are the terms? Um, we just kinda talked about channel letters and kind of the next, uh, kind of, well, the next popular options, especially here in the digital age is led displaced, uh, electronic message centers, um, led signs. I’m trying to think of all the different terms that people come up with. Basically what these are is these are, um, essentially they are led panels and this is what you see on a lot of schools, churches, um, businesses, casinos, um, that have the, uh, it’s, it’s essentially a large TV made to be outside. Thanks For Joining the highway man signs podcast, your top Tulsa sign company in the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Skiatook, and surrounding areas.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Um, that kind of simple, that’s probably an oversimplification, but it kinda gives gets you the idea. So you can get a picture in your mind. And, uh, these are great when you’re trying to this, this replaces the old changeable letter marquees that you would go out and have to physically change each letter every time you wanted to go out there, when you wanted to advertise a sale, when you wanted to put your phone number out on the shine, um, if you wanted to change, if you had a gas station and you wanted to change gas prices, um, yeah. Led displays are the thing to go to. If you have a changing message that you are constantly changing, but what’s so great about them is they, they catch your eye because they’re moving. Um, you could have scrolling texts, you can have flashing texts, you can have pictures go up there. Speaker 1 (12:50): You can have video depending on how much, you know, what style of display you want to buy. Um, now they obviously do vary in cost quite a bit. Um, and one of the things that I definitely want to make sure that we clarify today is the fact that, um, a good display, um, that is made in America is going to cost you several thousand dollars. Um, unfortunately that’s just where the price point is. You’re going to spend for a good size sign, say a three by six, a two by eight. Um, uh, you know, you’re going to spend upwards of 15, 20, um, 25,000, $30,000. If you want to say a four by eight double sided, uh, sign. Now, the reason for that is, um, these are made in America. Um, they come with a five-year warranty that is pretty much standard across the industry, depending on what brand you get. That’s pretty much standard five-year parts warranty. Thanks For Joining the highway man signs podcast, your top Tulsa sign company in the Tulsa, Bartlesville, Skiatook, and surrounding areas.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Um, I’ve yet to find any that come with a labor warranty. So if you do have a problem with your display, you are going to have to pay someone, either highway man signs, us or another local company to actually come and do the troubleshooting and working on the sign. Um, other great, they, they definitely bring in business. People see them, they’re excited to see them. You can put your message on there. You can put time and temperature on there. Um, you can, uh, put holiday greetings on there. If you’d like, um, you can put really important information on there. If you have a school, you have a church, you have a, uh, even a government building, um, you know, a community building that you need to put community announcements on there. Um, you’re announcing graduation for your school. That’s where you want to put that. That’s where people are going to see.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Um, the reason I called I called out, making sure you find one made in America is because there are these fly by night, uh, brands. Um, and I’m not going to list any brands here, but if it’s a Chinese made brand and it is you’re, if you’re comparing, let’s say a three by six double-sided led sign that costs you 15 to $16,000, um, versus the same size that’s a Chinese made. And it’s saying it’s four or $5,000. I’m promising you is not apples to apples. It is. You’re not comparing the same thing. It’s not a good comparison because a lot of those, um, are faulty. A lot of those do not come with warranties. Um, and most of them, um, I, I have seen a lot that don’t work past six months. Sometimes don’t even work out of the box and, um, I’m not trying to tout our product or anything like that, but I am warning you.Speaker 1 (15:56): I don’t want you to get into a situation that, um, could cost you more money in the long run. And none of that, that puts an ugly sign or on ugly eyesore on your property, on your building. You want the best, uh, especially when you’re talking about led cause they’re so eye-catching, and when they’re not set up, right, when they’re not working correctly, they are just as eye-catching for all the wrong reasons. Um, so yeah, that’s led displays and, um, you know, some thank you for listening today. Uh, we’ll catch this up next time, uh, for podcast number three. Um, but again, thank you for listening. Uh, this is, uh, Kenny with highway man signs, your top Tulsa sign company here in the Tulsa Bartlesville skiatook and surrounding areas. Again, thanks for listening. We’ll catch you next time.
