Lighted Sign Layouts
When doing a layout for lighted can/cabinet signs, we need to make sure that it represents what the final sign will look like. Sign cans (sometimes referred to as cabinets) are aluminum frames with trim to hold either flat or extruded faces. We want to make sure it looks as closely as possble to the final product so the customer has a good idea of what it will look like when complete.
- A sign cabinet will usually have 2″ trim. For instance if the sign is going to be 5’x10’, you would do an inside contour of 2″ so it has a border inside the 5’x10’ can. This will also set your viewable area where you can fit your graphics. Also be sure to set the color of your border as gray (if unpainted) or whatever the customer has chosen if they have requested us to paint the frame. (See Below)
- Next, be sure to include the sign layout wherever it may be installed, on a picture of the building, on a pole, etc. Be sure to use the correct height and size of pole. (See Below)
