Channel Letters (Raceway Mounted)
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Ensure that the installation surface is clean, dry, and free of any debris. This includes the wall or structure where the raceway will be mounted. If necessary, use a level to check that the surface is even.
Step 2: Measure and Mark Letter Placement
Measure the exact placement for the raceway and channel letters on the wall. Use a tape measure and a level to ensure the letters will be mounted straight and in the correct position. Mark the location of the center top of the raceway, ensuring proper alignment.
Step 3: Position the Raceway
Lift the pre-wired raceway with the channel letters attached into position (using crane with appropriate lifting strap, hooks, eyebolts, etc.) aligning the center top with the marked line on the wall. Make sure the raceway is centered and properly aligned using a level and tape measure.
Step 4: Secure the Raceway to the Wall
Using a drill and appropriate fasteners (screws or anchors), secure the raceway to the wall. Be sure to drill into studs or use wall anchors if necessary for stability. Tighten all screws to make sure the raceway is firmly mounted and will not shift.
Step 5: Connect to Electric
If the raceway wiring is not yet connected to a power source, connect the raceway’s wiring to the appropriate power supply or electrical box. Ensure all electrical connections are made according to local electrical codes and manufacturer guidelines. Double-check connections for safety and secure fitting.
Step 6: Test the Channel Letters
Before finishing the installation, power on the system to test the lighting and ensure all channel letters are illuminated correctly. Verify there are no flickering lights, wiring issues, or dead spots in the letters.
If there is no electric or the existing electric is not working or otherwise unavailable, test connection using our generator. Plug wires into an extension cord and plug into generator and turn sign on. Take a picture of working lights and be sure to show customer the sign does work and communicate any issues with their electric.
Step 7: **Secure Any Loose Wires**
If there are any loose wires or cables, ensure they are properly secured and tucked away to avoid interference with other objects or potential damage. Use cable ties or tape to organize and secure the wiring within the raceway. Be sure to reinstall the lid to the raceway with supplied screws.
Step 8: **Clean Up**
Once the raceway-mounted channel letters are installed and working properly, clean up the work area. Remove any tools, debris, or excess materials. Ensure the installation site is left tidy and presentable.
Step 9: **Final Inspection**
Perform a final inspection of the installation, ensuring the raceway is secure, the wiring is safe, and the channel letters are aligned and functioning correctly. Confirm the installation meets all safety and design requirements. Then do a final walk around with the customer and address any concerns immediately (This will reduce the chance for any call backs).
By following these steps, you will ensure a secure and professional installation of the raceway-mounted channel letters, achieving an optimal and functional result.
