Install – Breakaway Posts

1. Dig a hole: Dig a shallow hole that’s about 6 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep.
2. Drive in the base post: Drive the base post into the hole, leaving about 4–5 inches above ground.
3. Insert bolts: Insert a bolt with a washer into the top hole of the base post, and another bolt into the first or fifth hole.
4. Thread the bolts: Thread the bolts through the spacer bar, repeating for the lower hole.
5. Attach the top post: Line up the two protruding bolts on the base post with the lower holes on the top post, and nest the top post over the end of the base post.
6. Secure the post: Use self-locking nuts to tighten the bolts, and replace the dirt around the hole and tamp it down firmly.
7. Adjust the post: Use a level to make sure the post is straight, and tighten the square jamb nuts with a wrench.
